Ms Carrie Tao – (CEO and owner)

Iron Creek Bay Farm Stay by Misho + Associates is a new type of hospitality for short-stay accommodation typology located in nipaluna (Hobart), lutuwita (Tasmania), Australia.

Iron Creek Bay Farm Stay will breathe new life into an existing farm and prepare it for the next step in agricultural development.

The property’s principled solid backbone allows the proposed development to expand the current agricultural offering.  The proposal involves creating a farm stay accommodation linked to a farm store or restaurant to develop agricultural synergies on the farm and compete with Air BNB for families and groups.

The underlying factors for the development are to ensure that the project is environmentally sustainable.

The project endeavours to create buildings that respond to an agricultural farm’s landscape and experience.

SYDNEY ZOO – BUNGARRIBEE

(August 2015- opening on 6 December 2019)

Mr Jake Burgess – (Managing Director Aug 2015- current)

The proposed new series of buildings set within the design of the new Sydney Zoo are to be secondary to the main feature, the animals.

Aspect Studios was tasked with the master planning and landscape design.

The primary concept is to have the building mimic the landscape and blend into the existing and proposed new landscape solution for the site. The buildings on the site will each create a point of difference within the area of the master plan, the building’s expression based on the use and the position.

The form of the buildings will maximise the opportunity the site offers without impacting the surrounding landscape and the area’s amenities. The buildings will become identifiable from afar yet sit comfortably in the landscape. The facades create a visually rich screen of constantly changing patterns of light and movement, expressing its internal functions, whether an entry pavilion, retail, workspace, breakout or lobby area, adding an ever-changing layer of visual delight to the landscape.

A simple palette of materials, detailed carefully, creates an impression of quality and longevity. The need for decoration to mask the design is apparent. Decoration is applied by layering light and shadow over the building structures.

It is understated yet elegantly simple.

THE WATERFRONT RESTAURANT AND OFFICE REFURBISHMENT (1999)

Mr Wolfie Pizem

The Waterfront Restaurant has occupied one of the most impressive sites in Sydney since the 1970s. The Campbell’s Stores building, where the restaurant is located, is an early 19th-century heritage building of great significance. The new fit-out for the restaurant was a complete strip out of the 1970’s interior. The design approach revolved around preserving and accentuating the historic beauty and textures of the original building. New free-form elements have been introduced to the existing internal roof structure. All new services have been carefully detailed to make them virtually invisible. Dilapidated windows have been replaced with single sheets of glass to present a spectacular view of the Opera House and Sydney Harbour. The refurbishment also included the upgrade of the restaurant’s administration offices.
